winter giveaway...

hello! i'm having one last giveaway this year. i'm giving away one of my mushroom ornaments... your choice of which one. i have to say, these are really sweet ornaments... and they look really great on a tree or really just any where!

to enter, please leave comment letting me know which one you would like, and also share what you plan to do for the holidays if you celebrate... or just what you like about winter!

we celebrate christmas, and i try to keep it pretty mellow for the children. i have to say i love christmas in the city... silver bells has always been my favorite holiday song! it's really wonderful just to be in the city this time of year, when it is sort of magically transformed. usually my sister and i go to the nutcracker every year at lincoln center, but this year i think we are just going to spend a day enjoying manahattan at christmas. as for christmas itself we usually take the children to macy's on christmas eve to visit santa. it's usually pretty quiet if you get there early, and they also have a free marionette show for the children. then we usually just walk around the city, have lunch, and watch the ice skaters in bryant park. our traditional christmas eve dinner, thanks to my son's suggestion, has become pancakes! the kids get so excited, and we have the cutest pictures of them all dressed up waiting for them to be served. christmas morning is the usual santa activites... and we always make my mother-in-law's famous cheese cloud for breakfast (i'll find the recipe and share it with you, because it's so gooood)!

i can't wait to hear from you! you have until monday night to enter. i promise to send it off quickly for you! you can enter no matter where you live, but i can't guarantee it will get there before christmas if you live outside the u.s.

I love your giveaways :) If I win *crosses fingers* I think I'd like the red topped mushroom!

This year for Christmas my boyfriend's parents and sister are staying with us. They are flying in from Ireland on Wednesday and staying for two weeks, so Christmas is going to be packed full of sight seeing and baking with his Mum! We've decided that they are going to have their own Christmas Eve/morning celebrations at our place, while I go home to my parent's house. We'll get together Christmas Day for a big meal, including some of my extended family. It's going to be busy, but so much fun!

For several years now we have a new Christmas ritual. We spend the month of November parked at my sisters in NC...a week before Christmas we pack up the car with us..my sister..cats and sometimes dogs and head to CT. to spend a week and half with Our family..
then back to NC before we drive our homey south to warmer climes.
that's it in a nutshell

for the past few years we have been having a tree trimming party with homemade eggnog, stringing popcorn and cranberries and cheesy christmas music. this year's party is on sunday. christmas morning is low-key at our house. santa fills our stockings and brings one gift. we spend the afternoon with family.

all of these mushrooms are beautiful and i would be very excited to get any one of them.

Oh, these mushrooms are so dear! I adore the one with the red top or the polkadotted fabric top.

We are going to have my mother come and visit us for Christmas and are so excited to see her!

Ohh!! your mushrooms are soo cute!! If I am lucky, I love the red topped with the buttons...
I love Christmas! The lighted streets, the big meals with the family, preparing presents, and making my own christmas ornaments.
With my husband we were thinking to travel to New York for some days these holidays, but unfortunately it is not possible... Maybe for next year! Until that day... it's enough having one of your mushrooms at home!
thanks!!

Super cute mushrooms. The green polka dot one is my favorite. My boyfriend and I are going to my mom's house in Portland for Christmas. It feels a lot more like Christmas there than in sunny Southern California.

Aw these mushrooms are so sweet, I can't pick one...ok maybe a red one. I'm trying my best to have as much of a DIY tree as possible.

I'm still not sure what my plans are for Christmas. My familiy usually gets together on Christmas day but the b/f and I haven't decided if we're seeing my folks or spend time with his family. Its always a tough call.

I love the winter because I'm a December baby. :) I always enjoy the first day of a snowfall, the quiet, the calmness of it, even in New York. It's great!

Great giveaway! I would choose the white top/red bottom mushroom and display it year round!

I am fortunate to live in an area where there are 4 very distinct seasons. Winter is gorgeous with its pristine white snow and ice frosted tree branches. One of my favorite activities during the holidays is going out to photograph the scenery and then enjoying a hot cup of mulled cider with friends afterwards.

Our family has many fun little traditions and I begin to appreciate them more and more as the years pass. We always go to Christmas Eve mass and then we come home and we each get to open one present!

On Christmas morning my dad always films us coming down the stairs (scary) to see what Santa left. We then open all our presents, have a big breakfast and start cooking for Christmas dinner, which is always at my parents house!

I love your little blue and while spotted mushroom. So simple and so beautiful!

Adorable! My favourite is the red-topped one with the buttons. :)

To me, Christmas is a celebration of friends and family. Tomorrow my dad and I will be going out to hunt down a tree for my apartment. I'll be having my dad, his fiancee, and my brother over to my place for one get-together, and I'll be over at my mom's for another (with my step-dad, third grandma, and my brother). I'm not sure if I'll be at the one with my step-dad's children... this is the first time where I wasn't staying there for the holidays. Today I'll be buying supplies for baking treats to share with friends and family. :)

PS: I found this post through your Etsy site, which I found through your Flickr photos. :)

I'm so glad I found your site. I love hand stitched animals and mushrooms. If I win I would like the shroom with the polk-dot top.

Our holidays are filled with the chaos and excitement of twin three-year olds. Today we made salt dough ornaments for friends mod-podged with ornamental papers. This year we will have our Christmas on Winter Solstice. I love to celebrate the Solstice and opening our gifts under the tree is one part of that. Then for Christmas we are off to visit my parents and create holiday mayhem with my sisters and their families.

One of my favorite parts is sitting down to cuddle with my honey as we stare at the Christmas tree while the house is quiet with sleeping children.

Wow - I would love to see what a 'cheese cloud' is - sounds exciting! and I looove cheese!
even though it gives me migraines nearly all of the time!

I love pancakes too - no turkeys for me (I love all animals) - and a plate of roast vegetables is just a super delicious xmas day meal.

hope you have a lovely time - sounds great!

Awww...the mushrooms are really cute! I especially love the red topped one. :-)

I'm in south Georgia, so no snow here for Christmas. I just love this time of the year though, even with the warm southern weather. There is always an occasional cool spell, and fingers crossed it will be over the holidays. I love my horses' soft, winter coats, and the frisky, energetic spring to their gaits on cool and crisp winter mornings. :-)

Of course I am as enamored with your mushrooms as much as I am with all that you create! You're amazing Cary!

OK, if I win, I would totally want the blue polky dotty one!

For Christmas, I'll be taking a much needed day-off & celebrate the day by eating a ton of good food & drinking pomegranate mimosas with my husband & 3 black cats--oh make that 4-- -my littleloveblue kitty will be right by my side! Of course I'd give anything to have an enormous snowstorm on the 25th!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family!

Noƫlle

I bet I'm too late again, but I can't resist having a little try!

Our Christmas?
Spent foraging for greenery and twigs to spray and dress. Lots of glitter and snow scene in jam jar making. Lots of family time!! I love Christmas - the fact that we're all celebrating and relaxing together. Yum!

Ooh, now - which one if I was lucky?? Hmm. The red topped one, I think!!
Have a wonderful time yourselves, Cary xx

My favorite thing about winter is hot chocolate!

And I'd adore the polka dot mushroom.

Ah! Polka dots are a favorite here. How sweet that would be hanging on our tree! We have a tree tradition to get ours on my birthday each year. This year we did the Nutcracker at the San Francisco Ballet. It was amazing. And our new holiday tradition is an advent calendar I made with 24 little stockings to fill with goodies. It was fun to make but hard to keep up with the goodies!
