prematurity awareness day...

one in eight babies is too many. we can do better. november is prematurity awareness month and today is prematurity awareness day. i had two babies born premature. one who made it... and my first baby we didn't know was struggling in time to save him.  i made a donation in today in honor of my babies and in honor of all those families who have struggled or are currently struggling with this now. i remember my time spent in the hospital after the birth of my daughter sidney, who was born 7 weeks early. i remember weeks of watching her struggle to learn how to breath on her own, learn how to eat, how to stay warm. i remember more weeks spent at christmas time in the hospital again where she almost lost her life from rsv, a common virus to strike preemies. i'm thankful everyday for my little girl and her life. i know she is too. every baby deserves the best we can give them. during this time of year when we think of giving thanks, and giving to others please consider the march of dimes and all the little babies that could be helped by each of us. even the smallest donations add up! i also have placed a button on my side bar you can click on any time. thanks!!

Your girl is beautiful and looks happy and healthy. I'm glad to have found your post through Bloggers Unite: Fight for Preemies. My 24-week twins share a birthday with Prematurity Awareness Day — November 17. I felt that was such a unique coincidence, that I created a new website of the journal I kept during their five-month NICU stay. It's called Mike&Ollie: 24-weekers Who Beat the Odds. Let's hope these stories raise awareness about prematurity and get people motivated to support research and prevention.

oh, my goodness. how truly inspiring. i'm so glad that everything worked out for you family after such a long struggle. i'm glad to see so many bloggers sharing their story. i think so many people feel so alone when it happens... even surrounded by the other parents in the NICU. thanks for your nice post and sharing with me.

It is wonderful to see the photo of your daughter looking so healthy and beautiful. On behalf of the March of Dimes, thank you for taking the time to blog about your story today. People like you are helping us raise awareness about the serious problem of prematurity. We are fighting for preemies everywhere....because they shouldn't to.
...Thank you again.
