the winner* of my first ever giveaway is.... bad day ben designs!! congrats:) bad day ben designs didn't share what they will be doing for halloween (maybe you'll come back and tell us? or maybe it's secret!), but we did get lot's of great stories to read. when i asked you to share i didin't realize how interesting it is to get a little peek into everyone's lives. it was so much fun, i'll have to do it again next month for thanksgiving!
for halloween, we usually have a little family party for my daughter's birthday. then we usually go trick or treating... in nyc you don't really trick or treat at people's houses though, you usually go to business's instead (some people like to sit on their stoops and hand out candy too though). so we walk up and down one of the main avenues and the kids go in all the stores to get candy (which is funny for me having grown up in the suburbs). they also have a little halloween parade in our neighborhood, for the kids to march down the street in their costumes. we usually don't make it very far before the kids are ready to fall asleep! we also have our annual halloween party on the weekend. we get together with friends and family (we have some coming from out of town this year and we'll have a full house!) i wish i could invite all my friends here too... but i promise to share some pictures!! happy halloween everyone!
* i used random.org to pick the winner, by the way.

Your Hallowe'en sounds like so much fun! Mine is usually low key, but I wish it was more exciting. A little neighbourhood parade would be so great. Thats always my favourite part of Hallowe'en - seeing the kiddies in their costumes :)
Waahooo!! I'm so excited!!! I've been dutifully gazing wistfully at your creations, and now I get to see one up close - how wonderful!
And I realized after posting that I didn't share my Halloween story, but I didn't want to double-post because it might be seen as trying to sneak in a second vote :-).
In truth we really haven't done much in the way of Halloween - neither my husband or I were big on celebrating the holiday. But this year will be different, as we have a two-year-old! His preschool is throwing a party, so he's going as his favorite book character, a caterpillar (as in, The Very Hungry Caterpillar). We probably won't trick-or-treat, as many of the kids around here like the really scary costumes (my son ran from the room during the recent Curious George episode with the scary caves, to give you some idea of why I'd like to avoid scary costumes... he takes after me), but a nearby church is doing a harvest party so we'll probably head over there. Games, food, and such. Should be fun!
Anyway, thanks for the giveaway!
thanks for sharing your story! it's so fun once your kids starting getting old enough to enjoy halloween! that's why we throw a party for the kids, i love to see how excited they are in their costumes! i'll contact you to get your address... congrats:)
katie... i've never been a big fan of halloween, but the kids love it. the parade is really cute... because it's just kids and parents dressed up, lot's of sweet rather than scary fun!
Yay!!
That sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate halloween :) It sounds like you live in Park Slope??
have a wonderful holiday and happy birthday to the birthday girl!
yes, park slope... you guessed it:) it's where everyone goes to have a baby, although i didn't know that when we moved here (not originally from around here). how about you?
